Job Summary:

The core responsibilities of the Security Guard is to protect Fresh Start’s property, employees, and visitors. Maintains a safe and secure environment for customers and employees by patrolling and monitoring premises and personnel. The Security Guard will identify and report incidents at the Resource Center and will be responsible for the security and safety of the clients, staff, and facilities. The Security Guard will periodically tour the facility to identify any irregularities and provide a reasonably safe and secure environment for all who enter the Resource Center. The Security Guard will also work in tandem with the Fresh Start staff on shift activities as defined and assigned by the supervisor.

Essential Functions & Accountabilities:

  • Patrol the facilities and grounds periodically to ensure the safety and security of clients and staff.
  • Assist staff during opening and closing tasks and during emergency situations.
  • Professional communication skills while providing information to clients, visitors, and staff.
  • Maintain a professional and effective relationship with the local police, fire departments, and Banner security guards as needed.
  • Partake in the responsibilities of the security contact group.
  • Prepare and manage all incident reports.
  • Change the layout of rooms in the Education Center.
  • Update the Safety Manual annually and provide annual training.
  • Provide and coordinate fire drills, safety, and active shooter training.
  • Look for ideas to improve the safety of the staff and the building.
  • Work with the Process Improvement Manager and Office Manager to organize the storage areas.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with the next-door property manager.
  • Assist the Front Desk with the delivery personnel.
  • Monitoring surveillance cameras to watch out for any disruptions or unlawful activities.
  • Control the departure and entrance of vendors, guests, employees, and clients.
  • Manage the Accel relationship and follow up with the maintenance of the cameras.
  • Evict trespassers and violators while following protocols before authorities arrive to take over.
  • Provide detailed reports on daily activities and any incidents that may have occurred to the Supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be flexible and available to work weekends and special events.
  • Must be certified in CPR and First Aid.
  • Must have clear and competent oral and written communication skills.
  • Competent in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Must possess strong group communication skills.
  • Proven history of working well in stressful situations
  • Ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Ability to manage time and plan effectively.

Work Environment:

  • Physical ability to do light moving, set up of classrooms, and lifting of boxes weighing 45-50 lbs.

Education:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED with one year’s experience in the security field or a certificate indicating completion of a security course.
