THE CLUB

The Acorn Club, located in the scenic Rittenhouse Square district of Philadelphia, exists for the “promotion of literary, musical and artistic tastes and for social enjoyments and such other kindred purposes as the Club may from time to time determine.” With a talented staff, premier dining and a full schedule of social programming, The Acorn Club has established itself as an elegant private women’s club. The Club has a rich history, a vibrant and appreciative membership, and a beautiful facility.

The Acorn Club is open from September to June, Monday through Friday for breakfast, lunch, Thursday and Friday for dinners, and overnight accommodations. Member-focused dinners, lecture and receptions, as well as private events are scheduled occasionally on evenings throughout the week and on weekends.

JOB POSITING

The Acorn Club seeks a dynamic professional to provide critical support in areas of security, at the Front Desk, and in various customer service capacities in other areas as needed.

Overview of Essential Responsibilities:

  • Primary Job Focus: Greet and open door for members and guests of the club
  • Be knowledgeable of Club events in order to properly convey information and answer questions
  • Provide excellent customer service at the Front Desk to ensure overall positive club interactions
  • Ensure guests and visitors abide by existing House Rules
  • Maintain a constant surveillance of all activities inside and outside of the building to ensure a safe environment for members, guests, and employees
  • Check-in overnight guests, assist with luggage, arrange transportation, make or suggest dining reservations
  • Act as Front Desk when receptionist is not scheduled. Includes, but not limited to: answering calls, transferring calls, taking reservations, answering questions or transferring to appropriate staff, taking messages
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of entry areas and sidewalks surrounding the property. Occasionally remove snow, trash, debris as needed
  • Additional tasks as assigned

Qualifications, Expertise, AttributeRequirements:

  • Requires observation and decision-making skills
  • Ability to handle emergency situation in a calm and professional manner
  • Ability to multitask with high quality standards, consistency and attention to detail; working methodically through tasks with speed and accuracy
  • Works well with others, independently and under pressure, realizing that your attention may be demanded by several problems simultaneously
  • Physical stamina is needed for heavy lifting and standing for several hours at a time
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative and follow through; seizes opportunities for improvement
  • Reliable; maintains a work schedule with flexibility to meet business level demands

Hours: Part time, estimated 15-20 hours per week with room for growth. Days and evenings, occasional weekends as needed. Must be available Monday Day, Wednesday Evening.

Compensation: Starting at $16.50

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5 – 20 per week
