Position: Safety & Security Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Safety & Security
Job Summary: The Security Coordinator provides administrative services in support of Malvern Prep’s Safety & Security Team. This position supports the daily attendance records for all staff and visitors. In addition, this position works collaboratively with the Attendance Coordinator on student late arrivals and early dismissals. This role will function as a full and active member of the security team and should be able to engage with any security matters as directed, including but not limited to campus patrol, event support, and overall emergency preparedness. Embraces Malvern’s mission and core values in all facets of performing the role.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred, not required
- School security officer or equivalent experience highly preferred
- ALICE trainer certification preferred; will be required within one year of employment
- School Security Officer (SRO) certification preferred; will be required within one year of employment
- Must have experience with Google Suite
- 3+ prior experience as administrative experience
- Must have current (dated within a year) clearances
Essential Duties:
- Performs day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining the daily attendance for staff and visitors
- Remains in communication with the Attendance Coordinator as needed for student accountability throughout the day
- Checks in all visitors and runs the security check in process
- Maintains confidentiality regarding all matters pertaining to attendance and security
- Drafts, edits and proofreads sensitive and confidential correspondence and material
- Uses computers for spreadsheets, word processing, database management, presentations, crisis and visitor check-in management software and other applications
- Greets visitors and handles their inquiries or directs them to the appropriate person.
- Sets up and maintains paper and electronic filing systems for records, correspondence, and other material
- Opens, sorts, and distributes incoming correspondence
- Files and retrieves documents, records, and reports
- Attends department meetings as needed
- Collects and maintains visitors’ schedules for the school
- Follows work procedures or schedules and keeps track of daily work
- Contributes to committee or team work
- Assesses the quality and efficiency of their work by keeping relevant reports and statistics on all aspects of the operation
- Continually evaluates and, where necessary, supports the redesign of their work with the goal of improving their efficiency and effectiveness
- Displays the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards, acting as a role model
- Makes the most of all opportunities to continue developing as an administrative assistant; acts to keep self professionally competent
- Builds and maintains a professional rapport with a broad audience – alumni, students, parents, all other staff and external contacts
