Job Description

$18-$19 Hourly, P/T


Summary

The primary function of the Security Officer is to undertakethe surveillance of our premises and protection of our staff and guests. The Security Officer will be responsible fordetecting any suspicious behavior and preventing vandalism, thefts or othercriminal behavior. You must be well-trainedin surveillance and dealing with perpetrators. The ideal candidate will inspirerespect and authority as well as possess a high level of observation. The goalis to help the hotel in maintaining excellent working conditions by keeping ourfacilities safe and problem-free.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that allguest needs and requests are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure to follow throughon all issues and discrepancies as pertaining to Security.
  • Beaware of tone and composure when addressing guests and other Associates.
  • Ensurethat guests’ names are used throughout your interaction with them.
  • Maintainknowledge of all hotel functions and services.
  • Patrol premises regularly to maintain order and establish presence
  • Assistguests with luggage as necessary.
  • Act asconcierge when in the hotel lobby.
  • Maintain andsubmit daily surveillance activities and important occurrences logs of all suspiciousactivity, or anything out of the ordinary requiring follow ups.
  • Ensure allguestroom doors are closed, and all public access doors are locked. (Secure all exit and doorsthroughout your shift)
  • Familiarity with report writing
  • Ensure allsecurity alarms and camera feeds are functioning.
  • Respond to alarms by investigating and assessing the situation
  • Check surveillance cameras periodically to identify disruptions or unlawful acts
  • Adhere tokey control policies.
  • FollowEmergency Protocol as per the situation. (Removewrongdoers or trespassers from the area)
  • Apprehend and detain perpetrators according to legal protocol before arrival of authorities
  • Lifeguards – pool coverage as needed.
  • Attend mandatory meetings and hotel functions
  • Comply with all company standards and policies as established in the employee handbook.
  • Other duties as required.


Education and/orExperience

A High School diploma orGeneral Education Degree (GED); 2 year related experience and/or training; orequivalent combination of education and experience. Previous hotel experience preferred, but not required.


Language Skills

The ability to: comprehend,read, write, and speak, both clearly, and effectively ensures that the lines ofcommunication are open between the associates and guests at the hotel; and isabsolutely essential. Customer service is our priority, so it is imperativethat all Associates communicate to the best of their ability.


Mathematical Skills

The ability to performbasic mathematical functions: adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing,using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; along with the ability tocompute rate, ratio, percent and interpret bar graphs.


Certifications

Eight and sixteen-hourssecurity certificates. Lifeguard/CPR Certified preferred. FSD certificationpreferred.
