Schedule: 8:30am to 2:30pm, Tuesday-Saturday
Summary:
The Greeter & Security Assistant is a vital member of the team fulfilling CHiPS’ mission of feeding the hungry by ensuring a safe food service environment for guests and staff. The Greeter & Security Assistant will greet guests and ensure that the process of serving is orderly. They are also responsible for assisting in unloading deliveries for the facility (food service and residence) and helping to store items where needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
Ensure a safe food service environment through diligent and active monitoring of the line of soup kitchen guests
Ensure the orderliness and fairness of the line, mitigate any disagreements or conflicts using conflict resolution skills, and take action in situations which can create disorder or danger.
Be visible and observant at all times, greeting residents, guests, and vendors in a courteous and attentive manner.
Respond to situations related to disorderly conduct or disruptive persons swiftly and
appropriately, including calling for backup or 911 if necessary.
Help train volunteers to utilize the guest registration systen and interact professionally with volunteers while serving guests.
Maintain the organization’s reputation by being professional.
Assist in bringing in deliveries for the entire facility including food donations from the public and other food vendors, and move items between floors of the CHiPS facility and/or off-site storage space.
Ensure deliveries are recorded/documented and store them where needed.
Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and order of exterior areas, including sweeping the sidewalk, curb, windowsills and entry, and assisting the porter in taking out the garbage and recycling, when necessary.
Any other duties assigned by the Director of Food Services, Assistant Director of Food Services or Executive Director.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
One year of relevant experience required
Must hold a Guard Card
Good communication and customer service skills, effective conflict resolution abilities, communication (written and verbal), organizational and planning skills required
Conversational proficiency or better of the Spanish language
Must possess a certificate, or be willing to be trained in first aid, CPR/BLS and conflict
resolution/de-escalation
Physical Requirements:
● Ability to actively listen and communicate clearly.
● Ability to walk, reach with arms and hands, stand for long periods of time, and climb stairs
● Vision abilities required by this job include close and far.
● Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
● Ability to work outside in temperatures down to 0 and up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit for at least two hours at a time

Pay: $22.00 – $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25.0 – 30.0 per week
