The Caring Place (@Miami Rescue Mission & Broward Outreach Centers) is a leading provider of services to the homeless and needy of South Florida. We are looking for like-minded, dynamic individuals to come and join our team. The Caring Place provides emergency shelter, residential programs, job training, education & computer literacy classes, healthcare, transitional housing, permanent housing, employment opportunities for homeless men, women, and children as well as programs for “at-risk” youth.
We are currently seeking a PT Security Officer at The Caring Place church property in Miami Gardens, FL
JOB SUMMARY
The Security Officer (SO) reports to Director of Social Enterprises (DSE). The SO is responsible for monitoring the premises, conducting regular patrols, and enforcing security policies. This includes monitoring access points, conducting patrols, responding to emergencies, and preventing unauthorized activities. The SO must be reliable, detail-oriented, and vigilant to ensure the safety and security of property, staff, clients and visitors.
CORE DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Monitor and patrol the premises to detect and prevent signs of criminal activity, trespassing, or safety hazards

Respond promptly to alarms, incidents, and emergency situations; report any concerns or breaches to the appropriate authorities

Maintain a visible presence to deter unauthorized activity and ensure a safe environment

Operate and monitor security equipment such as surveillance cameras, metal detectors, or alarm systems
-
Write detailed reports about incidents, suspicious activities, or breaches of security
-
Provide assistance during emergencies, including evacuations, medical situations, or accidents
-
Collaborate with law enforcement, fire department, or other security personnel as needed
-
Ensure that safety protocols and company policies are followed consistently
-
Provide customer service by offering directions and assistance to visitors or employees
-
Will lead and/or participate in devotions, prayers, or other ministry activities ex. outreach events
-
Must be in agreement with and sign The Caring Place Statement of Faith

Performs other related duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
-
High school diploma or GED not required
-
Must have prior security or related experience; law enforcement/military background preferred
-
Must be able to work independently and handle stressful situations calmly and efficiently
-
Must have strong conflict management skills with the ability to de-escalate tense situations effectively
-
Excellent observational skills with attention to detail; ability to remain calm under pressure
-
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective reporting and interaction with staff, clients and visitors
-
Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
-
Must be able to reach overhead, and work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, walking, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods of time

Must be capable of performing regular patrols (inside and outside), including walking long distances and climbing stairs

Must be able to work in various weather conditions
-
Must have the ability to lift and/or pull objects weighing up to 75 pounds

Must also be able to see, hear and speak, in order to interact with staff and the general public
