Security Officer Grooming Standards
Purpose:
These grooming standards ensure that security officers maintain a professional, uniform appearance that reflects discipline, order, and the highest level of respect for their position.
1. Hair:
All officers must maintain their natural hair color. Unnatural hair colors such as bright, neon, or multicolored hair are strictly prohibited.
- Men’s Hair:
- Hair must be kept short and neat at all times. The hair on the top of the head should not exceed 3 inches in length.
- The hair on the back and sides must be tapered, with the length no greater than the top of the shirt collar.
- No extreme hairstyles (e.g., mohawks, shaved patterns, or overly spiked hair) are permitted.
- Hair should be cut regularly to prevent it from covering the ears or touching the collar.
- Women’s Hair:
- Hair must be kept neat, tidy, and professional at all times.
- Hair should be styled in a way that prevents it from falling over the face or interfering with the uniform. If long, it should be tied back into a bun, ponytail, or similar style.
- Extreme styles such as large, bulky, or disheveled hairstyles are prohibited.
2. Facial Hair:
- Beards:
- Beards must be kept short and neatly trimmed. The length should not exceed 2 inch. They should be no longer than the chin.
- The beard must be trimmed evenly
- A full beard is permissible, but it should be closely maintained and free from any stray or unkempt hairs.
3. Tattoos and Piercings:
- Tattoos:
- Tattoos must not be visible while in uniform, including on the face, neck, hands, or wrists.
- Tattoos should be professional in nature, with no excessive designs that could detract from the uniformed appearance.
- Piercings:
- Ear piercings are allowed but must be small, conservative, and discreet (e.g., studs or small hoops). Only one earring per ear is allowed.
- Facial piercings (eyebrows, nose, lips) are prohibited while on duty.
