Qualifications:
Security Officers, sometimes referred to as Security Guards, deter criminal activity, protect and enforce rules on a property. Some monitor surveillance cameras and alarms from a stationary position, while others patrol areas and do security checks in buildings, offices and parking structures. Security Officers provide protection for equipment and workers along with checking the credentials of vehicles and individuals coming and going from the premises.
Responsibilities:

Observation and Vigilance:
- Must remain alert at all times, observe their surroundings, looking for signs of suspicious activity, potential threats, or disorderly conduct. Ensure all employees, contractors and vistors badge is visable at all times.
- Acknowledge unusual activities and investigate further or report it to the appropriate personnel.

Access Control:
- Responsible for monitoring access points. Check badges or identification to ensure only authorized individuals enter the appropriate buildings that they have access for. Unauthorized individuals have to go though the screening process until verified.
- Trespassers are promptly addressed and removed from the premises.

Emergency Response:
- In case of emergencies (medical incidents, accidents, fires, etc.), must be able to take swift action. Assist with evacuations, provide first aid, or call for help.
- Familiarity with emergency protocols and communication systems is essential.

Crime Prevention and Deterrence:
- Be able to act as a visible deterrent against criminal activity to ensure the safety of others
- Conduct patrols on all platforms, parking lots, and other areas to prevent theft, vandalism, or other crimes.

Documentation and Reporting:
- Must be able maintain detailed records of incidents, disturbances, or any unusual occurrences.
- Accurate note-taking helps with investigations and ensures proper follow-up.

Customer Service:
- Able to interact with employees, visitors and contractors, providing assistance and information when needed.
- Politeness, patience, and clear communication are essential for positive interactions.
- Provide excellent customer service which could include giving directions, opening doors and greeting employees, visitors and contractors in a proper manner.
