Proteus Protective Services B-3200553 is hiring Unarmed security officers in the Jacksonville, FL area.
We are specifically recruiting for those that can work on a special detail Saturday, October 5th:
- 7am-7pm
- 10am-9pm
- 7pm-11:30pm
Additional details are coming up between now and the end of the year, as well as opportunities to fill in at static locations we have on a regular basis.

Pay rates
- Armed Officers begin at $18.75/hour
- Unarmed Officers begin at $18.00/hour
Proteus Protective Services, continuing to lead the Jacksonville area on raising the rates of security officers! Not post specific wages, like some security companies!
Summary of Duties
Answer and respond to calls needing public safety or security. Writing complex incident reports. Maintaining a high level of independence, initiative and interaction with the public. Responsible for reprimanding and detaining members of the public. Provide assistance to law enforcement agencies when needed. Able to make sound decisions in stressful situations. Solid understanding on situational awareness and de-escalation. Majority of positions are overnight posts.

- Rendering aid to the physically injured
- Investigating safety hazards and taking action to correct potential problem areas
- Providing motorized, foot and bicycle patrol to residential and business areas
- Practicing problem solving techniques in support of the agencies problem solving strategies
- Operating agency marked vehicles in routine and emergency situations
- Participating in job-related training and courses to maintain skills, knowledge and abilities
- Acting without direct supervision and exercising independent discretion in meeting emergencies
- Detaining suspects, removing trespassers from property, physically and forcibly as needed.

- Being an “Ambassador” of the agency to the community.

Basic Qualifications
- Ability to utilize a pastoral approach to potentially hostile situations, with an emphasis on de-escalation and conflict resolution.
- Class "D" Security Officer License
- Class "G" Statewide Firearms License (if armed)
- Active, valid Driver License with clean driving record
- Access to own vehicle (no public transportation / ride sharing)
- Ability to stand, walk, and/or run for periods up to 12 hours
- Ability to work required shifts including day and overnight.
- Ability to work holidays and weekends.
Uniform / Equipment Requirements
- Smartphone with ability to download appropriate work -elated applications to be used in the field.
- Navy Blue tactical style pants (black permitted for first 3 pay weeks).
- Plain Black in color boots, shoes, or sneakers that are work-appropriate
- Duty Belt – All Officers
- Less-Lethal Device (OC Spray and/or Taser) – All Officers
- Handcuffs – All Officers
- Flashlight – All Officers
- Duty-Rated Firearm w/3 Magazines (Agency Must Approve) – Armed Officers
- Duty-Rated Level 2 or Higher Holster (Agency Must Approve) – Armed Officers
- Duty-Rated Ammunition (Agency Must Approve) – Armed Officers
- Body Armor (Concealable Only – No Outer Carriers) – Armed Officers
Highly sought after skills:
- First Responder certified (First Aid, CPR, AED trained) or willing to obtain through our academy
- Any candidate looking to drive an agency vehicle must have a valid drivers license and will need to provide a copy of their DMV Driving record or consent to a drivers license check prior to hire.
- Due to the nature of our work, often outside in the climate and elements, candidate must have unencumbered access to a personal vehicle for their use to retreat to during inclement weather, etc. through out their shift.

- Certifications in any or all of the following: Taser, OC Deployment, handcuffing (must have current certification or be willing to get certified to carry through our training institute)
Training
We will provide training to help you meet the standards of Proteus Protective Services. You will receive on-going training in incident preparation including active shooter, room clearing, handcuff use, de-escalation techniques, situational awareness, working in tandem with a partner, incident command and so much more, during in-house training sessions. We partner with Proteus Training Institute in Clay County Florida. We do offer D & G classes at a discounted rate from other academies. FDACS School license #DS3300039. We will sponsor the candidate with the right fit.
