Armed Security Officer

Overview
Armed Security Guards play a critical role in maintaining a safe, controlled, and enjoyable environment within the nightclub. They provide a strong security presence to deter violence, protect staff and patrons, and respond quickly to incidents such as fights, disturbances, or potential threats. This role requires excellent judgment, professionalism, and the ability to stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced, late-night environment. Armed guards must be fully licensed, trained in firearm safety, and skilled in conflict de-escalation, crowd control, and emergency response.

Responsibilities

1. Entry Control & Screening

• Monitor entrances and exits to ensure only authorized patrons enter.
• Perform ID checks to verify age and prevent underage entry.
• Conduct bag checks, pat-downs, or metal detector screening when required.
• Enforce dress code and behavior standards at the door.

2. Crowd Management

• Maintain order during peak hours and large crowds.
• Control guest flow to prevent overcrowding and ensure safety.
• Identify and safely remove disorderly, aggressive, or intoxicated individuals.
• De-escalate conflicts before they become physical or violent.

3. Surveillance & Monitoring

• Monitor the dance floor, bars, VIP sections, and restrooms for suspicious activity.
• Watch for signs of drug use, weapons, or unsafe behavior.
• Keep constant communication with other guards and management via radio.

4. Armed Protection & Threat Response

• Provide an armed presence to deter violence and protect staff and patrons.
• Respond quickly to fights, disturbances, or weapons-related incidents.
• Protect life and prevent escalation using proper judgment and legal force options.
• Maintain strict firearm safety and follow state laws and company policies.

5. Incident Handling

• Break up fights and control violent situations safely.
• Escort removed patrons off the premises and ensure they do not re-enter.
• Coordinate with local police or emergency services when needed.
• Secure the scene after incidents and preserve evidence until authorities arrive.

6. VIP & Staff Protection

• Provide additional protection for VIP guests or special events.
• Escort staff (DJs, bartenders, promoters) to their vehicles after closing.
• Ensure cash handling operations (register drops, end-of-night deposits) are secure.

7. Safety & Emergency Preparedness

• Assist with fire alarms, medical emergencies, or evacuation procedures.
• Identify hazards such as overcrowding, blocked exits, or unsafe conditions.
• Ensure exits remain clear and emergency lights function properly.

8. Communication & Reporting

• Maintain constant radio communication with team members and management.
• Write clear incident reports for fights, removals, injuries, or police involvement.
• Document any weapons recovered, threats made, or force used.

9. Professionalism & Customer Service

• Maintain a calm, confident, and approachable presence.
• Treat patrons respectfully while enforcing rules.
• Uphold nightclub policies on behavior, intoxication, and safety.

Requirements

1. Licensing & Certifications

• Valid armed security guard license (state-specific).
• Valid concealed carry / firearm permit if required by the state.
• Completion of state-approved firearm training.
• CPR, First Aid, or AED certification (preferred).

2. Experience

• Minimum 1–2 years of security experience (nightclub or bar experience strongly preferred).
• Prior experience in crowd control, conflict resolution, or high-volume environments.
• Law enforcement or military background (plus but not required).

3. Skills & Abilities

• Strong de-escalation, communication, and conflict-management skills.
• Ability to identify and respond to threats quickly and calmly.
• Capable of safely handling and securing firearms according to policy.
• Able to work in loud, fast-paced, and high-energy environments.
• Good judgment and ability to make quick decisions under pressure.

4. Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
• Ability to restrain or remove aggressive individuals when necessary.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs if required.
• Good vision and situational awareness.

5. Conduct & Professionalism

• Must maintain a clean background (no violent felonies or disqualifying charges).
• Drug-free, reliable, and punctual.
• Professional appearance and attitude.
• Ability to remain calm in heated or dangerous situations.

6. Availability

• Night and weekend availability is required.
• Ability to work holidays or special events when needed.
• Must arrive early to be briefed before opening.

Pay: $17.00 – $20.00 per hour
