Job Description

Group Services is seeking an armed uniformed security officer to provide top-quality residential based security services to select locations in Fort Worth, Texas. Qualifications:

  • Experience providing top-quality customer service is strongly preferred
  • Experience in private security, law enforcement or the military is highly regarded
  • Excellent communication skills to interact clearly and efficiently with internal colleagues, law enforcement professionals and clients to address security threats
  • Adequate computer skills for basic documentation and communication
  • Technical savvy to learn and use monitoring and alarm systems
  • Able to stay mentally alert and acutely aware of immediate surroundings
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 21 years old

Schedule:

  • The security operation is on duty 24/7/365
  • Day Shift: 6am to 2pm; Evening Shift: 2pm to 10pm; Midnight Shift: 10pm to 6am
  • Officers are assigned to a shift, but may be reassigned as needed
  • New hires typically work midnight shift or evening shift
  • Days off are typically weekdays
  • Holidays are regular workdays and follow the normal shift schedule; however, they are recognized with floating paid days off
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime as needed to ensure coverage for this 24-hour operation; overtime hours are paid at the 1.5x rate where applicable
  • Periodic mandatory overtime typically requires working an additional four hours before or after the standard shift
  • Mandatory training will be compensable time and may occur before or after a scheduled shift, or on a day off

Duties Include:

  • Providing physical security for human and capital assets
  • Maintaining security perimeters
  • Managing access to restricted properties and locations
  • Monitoring computerized alarm systems and surveillance equipment
  • Conducting area and perimeter checks to maintain domain awareness and screen for threats
  • Analyzing situations to make quick and accurate assessments regarding security concerns
  • Sustaining a high level of attention to detail with immediate responsiveness and decisiveness to ensure security is maintained
  • Communicating with professionalism to clients, security personnel and law enforcement to ensure the protection of people and property
  • Maintaining skills through ongoing training programs to meet company standards and state requirements (see above training section)
  • Completing various reports and logs as required
  • Customer service duties may include tasks outside of security functions, to include assisting with pet care

Training:

  • In-house training is provided to enable officers to obtain and maintain required state licensing
  • High-level instructors with reputable qualifications provide ongoing training to employees
  • Training program components were developed by industry leaders
  • Advanced medical training is developed with medical director oversight
  • State-of-the-art scenario-based simulator software enhances intervention and firearms training
  • Training courses include the following: first aid, AED, advanced medical training, physical fitness, pressure point control tactics (PPCT), spontaneous knife defense, ground avoidance, ground escape, handcuffing, and firearms
  • Fitness training is ongoing; testing includes push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, sit and reach, and 1.5-mile run
  • The various in-house training programs are provided at no cost to employees
  • Mandatory training is provided on-the-clock and may incur overtime
  • Our comprehensive training program serves as useful preparation for careers in police departments and other law enforcement agencies

Other:

  • The wage for this position starts at $19.71 per hour. After completion of training and a basic probationary period of about six months, consideration will be given for a wage increase to $20.67 per hour. The position includes periodic mandatory overtime, which would bring the annualized income up further.
  • The company employs a thorough selection process to include, interviews, background checks, reference checks, education verification, pre-employment medical screening and a state-required psychological evaluation, which are provided at no cost to applicants
  • When advancement opportunities arise, promotions are made from within, although this is a small company with no fast track to a higher position
  • This is an armed uniformed position requiring shift work on assigned posts
  • Executive protection officer positions exist; however, openings for that role are rare and the selection process typically is highly competitive
