Security Guard PT

This position pays $16/hr. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including holidays, weekends, and evenings, indoors, and outdoors.

Position Purpose

The Fort Worth Botanic Garden is a public garden with indoor and outdoor activities serving our guests 7 days a week. As a Security Guard, you would ensure the safety and security of both our facilities and our guests. We rely on our Security to make our guests feel comfortable and safe during their visit. Principal Responsibilities

• Maintains a secure, healthy, and safe working environment by ensuring the policies and procedures are followed.
• Welcomes and directs gueststo areas of interest,public and private events, exhibits, and scheduled activities in the Garden.
• Maintains daily security logs and prepares incident and inspection reports.
• Provides information for guests and reports safety concerns to management to have them rectified.
• Assists with coordination of private events such as weddings and provides escorts when needed.
• Maintains safety and security of assigned facility. Conducts routine inspections for violations of security regulations, vandalism, trespassing, and tagging. Checks locks ondoors and gates.
• Responds to emergencies including medical problems, criminal activity, and related traffic control opportunities.
• Participates in the planning, preparation, and filling of employee roles for various public events/exhibits hosted by the Garden.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with regular work hours scheduled Saturday through Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Flexibility and working evenings, weekends, and holidays is required. This position must be performed onsite however, a flexible work schedule may be available.

Skills & Experience Required

• High School diploma/GED
• Experience in responsible security or law enforcement
• AED and CPR trained; First Aid trained
• Must have some experience with technology to access and utilize timecards and electronic communications.
• Experience operating and using radio communications equipment, alarm systems, and security cameras.
• Internal and External customer service skills with ability to anticipate customer needs and answer questions.
• Ability to patrol outside in all Texas weather conditionsfor the majority of the scheduled shift.
• Ability to make sound decisions using good judgement.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to follow instructions and adhere to policies and procedures.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and work as part of a team.
• Must maintain current Texas Drivers License and auto-related liability insurance.

Helpful Education and Experience

• Ability to plan and manage time, prioritize tasks, and correspond duties with events.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply general safety principles and practices.
• Supervision and observation skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision.
