Job Purpose:
Under direct supervision, provides armed protection of Corporate property, personnel and visitors against illegal entry, theft, vandalism, safety hazards and fire. Routinely patrols buildings, grounds and parking facilities inspecting and reporting irregularities and examining doors, windows and gates to ensure that they are properly secured. Administers emergency medical services and provides armed escorts as applicable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
1. Patrols all facilities to detect breaches of security, fire and safety hazards. Takes immediate action to correct discrepancies. Documents all incidents as required on PPM 2000, an automated incident reporting system.
2. Maintains appropriate logs and records at assigned post or while on patrol. A dispatch officer completes an Operations Log, which keeps track of incidents and radio calls.
3. Prepares various inspection reports on a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis for Protective Services vehicles, firearms, medical response bags, eye wash stations and Company fire systems.
4. Appropriately responds to emergency situations such as accident, fire, safety hazard, etc., as required.
5. Controls parking and vehicular traffic on Company property to prevent unwarranted solicitation and ensure the safety of employees and visitors.
6. Upon completion of state requirements to become commissioned, provides armed escort service for the movement of funds and other materials as required.
7. Upon completion of First Responder certification, provides emergency first aid, CPR, and other medical assistance as required.
8. Performs miscellaneous duties as requested, including rotating to other assigned posts or shifts and collecting and disposing of confidential and proprietary data.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Education: High school education or equivalent
Experience: 2 years of related experience in the field of security, such as law enforcement, military, emergency response or conflict management.
1. Must be eligible to receive a commission by the applicable state commission (based on state in which employed).
2. Must have or able to attain a minimum of the Texas Department of State Health Services Emergency Care Attendant Certification within one year to provide first aid and/or CPR to Company personnel and visitors.
3. Must have demonstrated proficiency with Mary Kay Protective Services Department issued weapons that are acquired through training and certification by a Corporate Firearms Instructor.
4. Must learn and master basic aspects of Fire Systems, Electronic Security Systems, Key and Lock Program, and hazardous material recognition and response. Incumbent receives on-site training through formal and on-the-job instruction performed by Mary Kay instructors and outside instructors.
5. Must be able to utilize independent judgment and make sound decisions regarding response to emergency situations.
6. Requires knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures and strategies to promote effective local security operations for the protection of people and property. Knowledge of incident scene processing and proper evidence-handling also required. Capable of understanding multiple security and life safety system platforms.
7. If assigned to lobby/reception area post, must possess exceptional and demonstrated customer service and interpersonal skills in order to screen, greet and assist employees and visitors; must be able to handle disgruntled employees and visitors while maintaining the security of the facility; and must be able to maintain visitor and guest logs.
8. Must be able to read, write and understand English in order to carry out verbal and written instructions and to complete necessary documentation.
9. Must be able to perform basic calculations in order to complete and maintain accurate timesheets.
10. Must have basic knowledge of personal computers in order to enter data and complete department forms and reports. Prefer knowledge of Microsoft Office programs .
11. Must have a valid driver’s license issued in the state of employment and a satisfactory driving record that conforms with the Company’s MVR policy and requirements (subject to departmental review) to operate vehicle used to patrol external Company property.
12. Must have auditory capability to hear alarms, monitors, intruders, safety infractions, etc; must have visual acuity and color perception in order to recognize hazardous material signs, observe incidents and describe witnessed people and/or situations; must have olfactory capability to smell dangerous gases, fires, etc. Requires good eyesight (corrective lenses may be used) with accurate color vision. Must be able to communicate clearly with supervisor and co-workers.
13. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and have an ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
14. Must be able to respond rapidly to emergency situations on foot, including the ability to run up and down multiple flights of stairs. Must be able to kneel and bend over an injured or incapacitated person in order to perform CPR or provide medical assistance.
15. Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time to patrol premises; direct visitors to their destinations; take readings from pressure gages, valves, computer systems and replace shredding containers throughout the facility; change flat tires; jump start vehicles; and assist with special events; Occasional reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling may be necessary. Staffing the lobby/reception area post may require extended periods of sitting.
16. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds frequently in order to carry equipment such as a fire extinguisher, secure data bins and AED/medical bags. Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds to lift wheelchairs, strollers, walkers, baggage, gifts, etc. (in and out of vehicles). May require lifting cones and carrying them some distance and be able to lift up to 100 pounds in order to lift emergency equipment or drag an adult to safety.
17. Requires working long hours without advance notice or significant breaks as needed. Ability to adjust schedule as necessary to meet project deadlines. An ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
