Job Description

As a retail security officer, your role is crucial in assisting with the safety and security of the store, its employees, and its customers. Here are some typical duties you might perform:

  • Monitor Surveillance Systems: Use surveillance cameras and other monitoring equipment to keep an eye on the sales floor, stockrooms, and other areas of the store to detect and deter theft, vandalism, or other suspicious activities.

  • Patrol Premises: Conduct regular patrols of the store, both on foot and, if applicable, in a vehicle, to visually inspect for any signs of security breaches or safety hazards.

  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, offering assistance, and answering questions about store policies or products. This proactive approach can also deter potential theft or other misconduct.

  • Enforce Store Policies: Enforce store policies regarding theft prevention, dress code, loitering, and other regulations to maintain order and safety within the premises.

  • Handle Security Incidents: Respond promptly and appropriately to security incidents, including theft, altercations, medical emergencies, or other disturbances. This may involve apprehending suspects, contacting law enforcement, or administering first aid.

  • Crowd Control: During busy periods or special events, manage crowds and queues to ensure a safe and orderly shopping experience for customers.

  • Loss Prevention: Implement strategies to prevent loss of inventory through theft, fraud, or administrative errors. This may involve monitoring inventory levels, conducting audits, and collaborating with store management to address vulnerabilities.

  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond effectively to emergencies such as fires, natural disasters, or medical emergencies. This includes following established protocols, assisting customers and employees to safety, and coordinating with emergency services as needed.

  • Report Writing: Maintain accurate and detailed records of security incidents, observations, and actions taken. This documentation is essential for investigations, legal purposes, and improving security procedures.

Schedule: Sunday and Tuesday - Thursday 3 pm - 12 am.

Pay rate: $16.50 hourly

Hours are variable and can change based on the needs of the business.

  • PERC Card: Possession of a Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC).
  • English Proficiency: Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English is essential for effective communication
  • Authorization to Work in the U.S.: Legal authorization to work in the United States, which may include citizenship, permanent residency, or appropriate work visas.
  • Physical Fitness: Being physically fit to stand and walk for extended periods, often up to 8 hours per shift.
