Based: SW10
Hours: 7374 Days, Night & Weekends (56hrs pw)
Pay Rate: £13.15 average per hour

OBJECTIVE
To work as a member of the security team for the protection of persons and property and thereby the provision of a safe and secure environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhere to Assignment Instructions at all times
- To comply with company health and safety procedures
- Maintain a high standard of communication and good working relationship with all other Security Officers
- The maintenance of good order on site including the protection of everyone therein against violent acts, abuse and accident.
- The protection of a client’s property against loss, theft, damage (including fire and water) and waste.
- The protection of private property belonging to the client, their staff and visitors against loss, theft and damage.
- Prevent offences against the law of the land, UniTrust disciplinary codes and policies and ensure all are brought to the attention of the management.
- Ensure basic fire precautions are in place and means of escape are clear.
- Access Control, patrolling, CCTV duties and general security duties.
- Assisting and overseeing Contractors requiring access or working on site.
Responding to
- All fire alarms and related emergencies
- Bomb alerts and all other types of related emergencies
- All other types of incidents (e.g. floods, gas leaks, defective lifts etc.)
- Intruders and other crime-related incidents
- Providing in all cases, assistance in accordance with instructions and training
Other duties
- Assisting with special visits as required
- Assisting with deliveries when required
- To comply with applicable environmental, health and safety rules, procedures, laws and accepted safe work practices. You will have a duty to take care of your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your actions at work.
ADDITIONAL SITE DUTIES
- Investigations of thefts, complaints and incidents
- To record and report all incidents
- To record and report all accidents
- To keep security records and logs up to date
- Admin duties to include: key audits, managing isolations on the fire alarm and liaising with the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC). Carrying out weekly and monthly checks on security systems, CCTV and Panic alarms etc. Maintaining equipment status logs.
- To deal with staff and visitors enquiries and requests
- Additional ad-hoc administration duties and any reasonable requests from UniTrust or the client in relation to the overall Security department role.
- Carrying out in a professional and diligent manner all other duties properly assignable to the position of Security Officer
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications
- Security personnel must have the basic job training qualification or equivalent experience.
- Must hold a valid SIA licence
- Carry and be capable or using all security equipment necessary to efficiently perform the duties required of a professional security Officer
Training
- If not already achieved officers must sit the 4 day basic job training qualification
- Officers must undergo onsite training
Aptitudes and attitudes
- Post holder must be able to demonstrate
- Good literacy and communication skills and have excellent verbal and written English
- Possess a good telephone manner
- Be computer literate
- Report writing skills

- A consistently smart appearance in the uniform provided and required by Unitrust
- Reliability, self-motivation and ability to use own initiative and work without supervision
- The ability, tact and diplomacy to deal with people including the client, the client’s staff and visitors, in all circumstances including emergencies and other times of stress
