About Us

The SIA is the organisation responsible for the regulation of private security. It is an independent, arm’s length body (ALB) of the Home Office, reporting to the Home Secretary, under the terms of the Private Security Industry Act 2001. The SIA’s purpose Is protecting the public through effective regulation of the private security industry and working with partners to raise standards across the sector. Its regulatory remit covers the whole of the United Kingdom.

The SIA has two main duties: the compulsory licensing of individuals undertaking designated activities within the private security industry and the management of a voluntary Approved Contractor Scheme, which measures private security suppliers against independently assessed criteria.

As a Project Officer, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the delivery of our projects and programmes, ensuring that outcomes are achieved on time, within budget, and to an exceptional standard. You’ll work closely with our team to develop project plans, monitor progress, and identify potential risks and issues. Your exceptional communication skills will shine as you build strong relationships with stakeholders and maintain a positive, professional presence.

Essential Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications

  • Experience of working on projects, programmes or portfolios including management of risks and issues
  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience of working collaboratively, developing and maintaining relationships
  • Ability to work under own initiative and be creative in tackling challenges and finding solutions
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a high pressured environment to complete and deliver outputs with competing deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of undertaking secretariat duties (drawing up agenda, preparing and circulating papers, drafting minutes, follow up on action points)
  • Ability to draw information from a wide range of sources and synthesise the information into a coherent output
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project with applied experience in supporting, updating and creating project plan(s) and experience of project planning
  • Proficient in the use of SharePoint and Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel
  • An understanding of project management methodology such as PRINCE2


Location

The role is based at our Head Office in Canary Wharf, London, with the expectation of 1-2 days office days a week, with flexible working arrangements available. Occasional travel within the UK may be required.
