This is a dual-function role combining Duty Manager responsibilities with licensed Security Officer duties. The post-holder must hold a valid SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guarding licence and will carry out both operational hotel management and on-site security functions. The role operates 24/7 and reports directly to senior management.
PRIMARY DUTIES — Security Officer (SIA Licensed)
Access Control & Patrols
- Maintain a visible, professional security presence across all areas of the property.
- Control and monitor all entry and exit points; verify credentials and refuse unauthorised access.
- Conduct regular foot patrols of interior and exterior areas including car parks and communal spaces.
- Monitor CCTV systems and report suspicious behaviour or security breaches immediately.
- Carry out security checks at the start and end of each shift, documenting findings in the security log.
Incident Response & Conflict Management
- Respond swiftly and calmly to disturbances, altercations, or suspicious activity on the property.
- De-escalate situations using SIA-compliant conflict management techniques wherever possible.
- Detain individuals where lawfully permitted under the SIA code of conduct and company policy.
- Liaise directly with police and emergency services during incidents.
- Issue and enforce trespass notices and hotel exclusion orders in line with legal guidelines.
- Provide first aid response to medical emergencies as a qualified First Aider.
Security Reporting & Compliance
- Maintain a detailed security log every shift — record all patrols, incidents, and interventions.
- Write accurate, comprehensive incident reports and submit to the management team promptly.
- Analyse incident trends and recommend process improvements or additional security measures.
- Work closely with third-party security contractors to ensure aligned protocols and seamless coverage.
Fire Safety & Emergency Response
- Act as Fire Controller — lead all emergency evacuations and enforce fire safety procedures.
- Conduct regular fire walks, inspect all exits and alarms, and document findings.
- Maintain all health & safety and fire compliance logs in SAEKER.
SECONDARY DUTIES — Duty Manager (Hotel Operations)
Operations Oversight
- Oversee day-to-day hotel operations during shift — housekeeping, maintenance, and facilities.
- Ensure rooms are ready for arrivals on time, coordinating housekeeping resources effectively.
- Conduct property inspections, identify maintenance issues, and log them for resolution.
- Ensure no rooms remain out of order for more than 24 hours.
- Supervise General Assistants and Housekeepers, managing smooth handovers between shifts.
Guest & Stakeholder Communication
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for guest concerns and operational queries during the shift.
- Monitor and respond to stakeholder communications — follow through to resolution, not just acknowledgment.
- Escalate significant operational or guest issues to senior management with full documentation.
Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain handover logs, health & safety records, and operational reports for each shift.
- Monitor contractor access and ensure all work is completed in line with safety guidelines.
- Compile data-driven reports on maintenance, safety, and operational trends using Excel.
- Adhere to and uphold company confidentiality policies and service standards at all times.
Requirements
Essential:
- Valid SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guarding licence (current).
- Right to work in the United Kingdom.
- Ability to reliably commute to Basingstoke RG21.
Preferred:
- First Aid at Work Certificate.
- Experience with CCTV operation and incident reporting systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and written reporting.
Pay: £12.71-£12.90 per hour
