This is a full time role working both day and night shifts. Day shifts are 7am – 7pm and night shifts are 7pm – 7am.
Job Title: Security Officer Reports To: Company Director
Job Purpose
To be responsible for the security of the Garden Centre and surrounding grounds and buildings. Carrying out regular patrols, monitoring CCTV and maintaining a highly visible presence to prevent shop lifting and all other illegal activities.
Role Responsibilities
- Open up the centre at the start of the day and ensure that it is locked and alarmed at the end of the day.
- Carry out regular patrols of the centre and surrounding grounds.
- Observe for signs of crime or disorder and investigate disturbances.
- Act lawfully in direct defence of life or property but do not put yourself in harm’s way.
- Apprehend criminals and evict violators, ensuring that banning letters are given and the Police are called when required.
- Carry out scheduled patrols and checks of equipment, recording relevant information.
- Report in detail any suspicious incidents.
- Upload necessary information to the Face Watch system when required, following the correct procedures.
- Monitor cameras throughout shift to identify shop lifters or any other illegal activity.
- Provide support and investigate thoroughly any concerns raised by team about suspicious activity.
- Complete and comply with all training, including health and safety training.
- Ensure that the department is maintained to be safe for team and visitors and to report hazards or unsafe working practices if seen.
- Promptly answer radio calls for information or team assistance.
- Ensure that you are carrying the security mobile phone at all times and the Man Down unit at night.
Required qualifications & experience
- GCSE Maths & English to C or equivalent.
- Proven work experience as a Security Guard (1 year +)
- Physical strength and fitness.
Preferred qualifications & experience
- Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols
- A qualification in security training.
- Experience operating CCTV system.
