We are seeking to appoint an Environmental Protection Officer or Environmental Health Officer to work within our Environmental Health Team, predominately covering the regulatory areas of Environmental Protection, such as Nuisance (Noise, Smoke, Odour, Light, Dust), Air Quality, Private Water Supplies, Contaminated Land, Environmental Permitting and associated fields.

About You
You are a committed but flexible, self-motivated, and enthusiastic team player and looking to work in busy, high-profile environment, experienced in delivering case management for nuisance complaints, preferably also experienced in consulting on planning applications, dealing with local air quality management, contaminated land, environmental permitting or private water supplies.

You can monitor and manage your own casework, make timely decisions, and deliver agreed outcomes. You have a passion for delivering outstanding customer service and possess excellent verbal and written communication. In addition, you have excellent negotiation and enforcement skills, and an ability to explain legislative procedures and requirements to a wide audience. Ideally you will have a demonstrable record of experience in the above fields; or have the right personality and drive and be willing to undertake technical training to allow you to undertake these tasks.

If you do not have a BSc in Environmental Health, you will be willing to commit to this, which the Council will fund as part of our apprenticeship scheme.
