Responsibilities:

The Retail Guard position is known inside our team and to our clients as a Retail Protection Specialist. Our Retail Protection Specialists are licensed security guards who are selected and trained to provide a reassuring, customer service friendly, and confident presence for our clients.

The Retail Protection Specialist/Retail Guard is responsible for greeting customers, answering questions, and providing customer service handoff, this position ensures a positive customer experience while deterring opportunity for theft through physical presence.

Always positive, professional, and calm; the Retail Protection Specialist/Retail Guard will prevent and de-escalate security incidents and conflict. They will respond professionally to security situations according to post orders and policy. Depending on the client location, the Retail Protection Specialist/Retail Guard may be supporting in-house loss prevention personnel with tactical recovery of product or apprehensions. AST may be offered to the right candidates in future.

Additional duties include:

• Monitor store systems to prevent loss and safeguard customers and employees.
• Observe and report significant events to in-house management or police
• Support store level security programs.
• Assist client location staff with improving the customer experience.
• Assist in emergency situations.
• Conduct professional evictions of intoxicated individuals and excluded persons.
• Support client Loss Prevention Officers during apprehensions.

Qualifications & Characteristics

• Security license: BST and Security Guard license.
• Honest and enthusiastic, highly dependable to their team and clients.
• Projects a confident and professional image, reflecting positively on the client.
• Strong observation and decision-making skills.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to maintain a calm and professional approach to challenging situations.
• Ability to support store staff and others through emergencies or critical incidents. Willingness to stay curious, use empathy, and de-escalate conflict.
• Ability to keep accurate notes and write reports.
• Basic aptitude for communications and equipment (two-way radios, mobile devices, and standard computer programs).
• Availability of 24 hours a week and a willingness to work shifts in various locations within that availability.

About this role:

This is a Part Time role, applicants must be available to work a flexible schedule, Monday to Sunday, up to 40 hours per week. Schedules are prepared in two week blocks based on employee’s established availability and client needs.
