Salary: The salary range for this position is CAD $38.12/Hr. – CAD $54.80/Hr. Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Protection Services, the Team Lead, Relational Security supervises the Relational Security Officers (RSO) team and provides work direction, and coordination, in the event of emergencies, to Relational Security Officers and staff of contracted security services, in accordance with departmental procedures. Grounded in the principles and practices of trauma-informed care, Indigenous cultural safety and humility, and equity, diversity and inclusion, the Team Lead delivers orientation and training and education curriculum for all RSO staff. The Team Lead purchases supplies, completes departmental investigations, participates in quality improvement meetings and develops and maintains guidelines and protocols for the department.

Qualifications / Skills and Education:
Education A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a college diploma in a related discipline such as criminal justice or business administration and five (5) years of recent related experience, including at least two (2) years of supervisory experience.

Your Day to Day:
- Performs supervisory duties such as providing work direction, scheduling, leave approvals, calling in relief staff, completing performance evaluations, maintaining the department policies and procedures and leading the orientation and training and education curriculum of assigned Relational Security Officer staff. Participates in the selection, hiring, and disciplinary process for staff reports. Ensures that effective performance measures are assigned, and that employees are motivated to achieve and exceed objectives in a professional, timely and quality manner.
- Provides a safe and healthy workplace for residents, patients, clients and staff using a trauma-informed care approach, ensuring the principles and practices of Indigenous cultural safety and humility, and equity, diversity and inclusion are at the forefront. Applies principles and practices of violence prevention, de-escalation and relational safety as necessary. Reports unsafe situations; takes corrective action and/or notifies appropriate personnel.
- Interacts with diverse and marginalized residents, patients, clients and families demonstrating behaviours such active listening, showing compassion, being self-aware and building trust. Cultivates an understanding of the resident, patient, client and the health care environment using a strengths-based approach that demonstrates respect and the inherent dignity of each person.
- Develops and maintains Guidelines and Protocols for the assignment of security access based on role responsibility and established criteria. Guides the development, recommendation and implementation of new or changed Guidelines and Protocols.
- Participates in interdepartmental and interagency quality improvement meetings
