We’re seeking a vigilant, proactive, and community-minded Community Security & Safety Officer to join our team. Key Responsibilities
Community Engagement & Safety

Greet and acknowledge all members and guests with warmth and professionalism

Promote a culture of safety by building trust and rapport with community members
-
Direct vehicle traffic in drop-off areas to ensure pedestrian safety
Risk Prevention & Security Monitoring

Monitor all entrances, common areas, and outdoor spaces for suspicious behaviour or unauthorized activity

Assess individuals entering the building to ensure they have a legitimate reason for being on the premises

Conduct occasional bag checks when warranted and with consent, always approaching with respect and professionalism

Identify and report irregularities such as:

Unattended packages or suspicious objects

Individuals carrying unusual baggage

Doors or windows left unsecured
Emergency Response & Incident Management

Remain on-site during all scheduled breaks to respond to emergency calls via two-way radio

Maintain ongoing communication with staff and senior leadership during incidents

Assist with end-of-day security protocol including final walkthrough, helping guests exit the building, and securing the premises

Follow all established JCC procedures
Reporting & Administration

Prepare detailed incident reports and daily activity reports as required

Communicate shift updates to incoming guards and inform maintenance when leaving the premises

Review and stay current on the JCC daily schedule and emergency protocols
What You Bring
-
A valid British Columbia Security Worker License (required)
-
Minimum 2 years of professional experience in a licensed security role

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills

Proven experience managing challenging or high-stress situations with calm professionalism

Sound judgment, integrity, and reliability

Familiarity with Jewish customs or an openness to learning about our community’s culture and values
