About the Role:
We are seeking a highly alert, professional, and physically capable Tactical Retail Security Guard to ensure the safety and security of our retail environment. This is a hands-on, tactical position requiring a proactive approach to loss prevention, incident response, and public safety. The successful candidate will be responsible for deterring and responding to security threats, including the detention of individuals when necessary, while maintaining a strong customer service presence.

Shift Timings:

1. Monday to Thursday – 11:00am to 9:30pm
2. Friday – 11:00am to 9:30pm / Sat & sun – 4:00pm to 8:00pm

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct high-visibility patrols and actively monitor designated areas, including high-theft zones, to prevent shoplifting and other security breaches.
• Identify and respond to instances of threatening, fraudulent, or disruptive customer behavior.
• Investigate security incidents, alarms, and suspicious activities thoroughly and professionally.
• When necessary and in accordance with company policy and the law, detain individuals suspected of criminal activity until law enforcement arrives.
• Enforce the Trespass to Property Act and store policies firmly and fairly.
• Escalate incidents appropriately and assist law enforcement as required.
• Interact with the public using a customer-service-oriented approach to de-escalate situations and maintain a safe environment.
• Complete detailed and accurate incident reports, surveillance logs, and all required documentation for every security event.
• Maintain constant vigilance and respond effectively to emergency situations.

Requirements:

• Mandatory: A valid Ontario Security Guard license.
• Mandatory: Minimum of 2 years of direct, hands-on retail security experience.
• Proven experience in a security role requiring physical intervention and detainment is a strong asset.
• Ability to remain standing and alert for extended periods (up to 10-12 hours per shift).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting and public interaction.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to de-escalate conflicts.
• Demonstrated ability to remain calm, make sound decisions, and respond effectively under pressure in emergency situations.
• High level of physical fitness and the ability to perform duties that may require physical activity.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Training in Use of Force, handcuffing, and/or defensive tactics.
• First Aid & CPR Certification.
• Previous experience in report writing and evidence handling.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $19.00-$20.00 per hour
