Position: :Security Attendant
Hours of Work: 35-40 hours (full time), Evening shift (4pm to 12am)

Position Summary: :
The Security Attendant is responsible for managing all aspects of the Terrace front desk, the security system and responds to Emergency Response System alarms to ensure the safety and security of clients, staff, contractor and visitors of St Paul’s Centre, Terrace and surrounding property.
Responsibilities
1. Provides security services at St Paul’s Centre, the Terrace, St Paul’s Church and surrounding property :

- Performs the patrolling duties of the security attendant (as specified by Team Leader) during the shift (which includes common areas, driveway, parking, mechanical rooms and church entrance)

- Maintains the safety and security system of the entire complex and monitors Computerized Security Television Video surveillance system (CCTV)security cameras and alarm systems
-
- Ensures the safety and security of clients and responds to emergency situations as required and immediately informs the Director of Facilities and Properties about emergencies.
2. Manages all aspects of the Terrace front desk and security assistance to residents:

- Provides assistance to tenants and members in accepting parcels, delivery of goods to residents
-
- Responds to resident requests and concerns related to security of the building and individual units
-
- Greets and logs all contractors arriving and leaving the building after office hours and during weekends
-
- Receives supplies and coordinates pick up location and times with the appropriate department
-
- Attends to the security of entrances and property during tenant or resident move-in our move-out or scheduled delivery of large items
3. Responds to alarms through the Emergency Response System (ERS):

- Responds in partnership with PSWS to ERS alarms throughout the buildings and resident units
-
- Responds to security-related ERS alarms and provides PSW or any authorized staff who forms part of the ERS team access to residential units
-
- Conducts daily and annual tests of the ERS system in collaboration with PSWs.
4. Completes logs and reports :

- Completes daily logs of inspections, alarm tests, deliveries, visitors and contractor

- Completes and files Incident Reports
5. Performs other support duties and safety responsibilities:

- Works safely at all times and ensures the safety of self and others by preventing and reporting hazards
-
- Complies with and conforms to all legislated safety regulations, and performs work safely according to departmental and organizational procedures and policies

- Accompanies contractors to work site when maintenance staff is not available
-
- Attends meetings and participates in SPLC’s activities as required
Skills and Experience::
-
- Working experience in community or housing setting or similar security setting
-
- Experience working with seniors an asset
-
- Knowledge of standard security procedures and de-escalation techniques
-
- Ability to read and write reports and logs and basic Microsoft Office skills

- Ability to work independently and with a team
-
- Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations to solve problems

- Knowledge and sensitivity to work in a culturally diverse environment
-
- Professional manner, communication and interpersonal skills
Education:

- Security Guard license required
-
- Valid CPR and First Aid Certificate

- Required to work a rotational 24-hour schedule, weekends and holidays

- Ability to work 4pm to 12am is required

- Additional hours required for emergency situations
