Security for Downtown Co-op overnight shifts available

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Security Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our clients and employees. This role requires a proactive approach to security, ensuring the protection of property, assets, and individuals by monitoring premises and enforcing safety protocols.

Duties

• Monitor and patrol assigned areas to prevent and detect signs of intrusion or suspicious activity.
• Operate surveillance equipment, including CCTV systems, to oversee premises effectively.
• Respond promptly to alarms and emergencies, coordinating with law enforcement or emergency services as necessary.
• Conduct regular inspections of buildings and grounds to ensure safety compliance and identify potential hazards.
• Implement loss prevention strategies to minimize theft and damage to property.
• Prepare detailed reports on incidents, observations, and activities during shifts.
• Provide excellent customer service by assisting visitors and employees with inquiries while maintaining a professional demeanor.

Requirements

• Previous experience in law enforcement or security is preferred but not mandatory.
• Familiarity with surveillance systems, including CCTV operation, is advantageous.
• Strong observational skills with the ability to remain alert and focused during long shifts.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively.
• Must possess a valid security license where required by law.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is required; additional training in security protocols is a plus.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: Up to $17.20 per hour

Expected hours: 24 – 30 per week

Schedule:

• Evening shift
• Monday to Friday
• Night shift
• On call

Education:

• Secondary School (preferred)

Experience:

• Security: 1 year (required)

Licence/Certification:

• Security Guard Licence (required)
