Mississauga Hospital – Full Time Patrol Officer

Position: Full-Time Patrol Officer

Site:
Mississauga Hospital |100 Queensway W, Mississauga

Averaging Agreement
: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Hours:
Rotating Continental (0800 -2000 / 2000 – 0800)

Payrate:
$19.19 / an hour (based on levelling system)

Schedule Example:
  • Week 1 – Days – Mon-Tues, Fri-Sat
  • Week 2 – Days – Sun, Wed-Thu
  • Week 3 – Nights- Mon-Tues, Fri-Sat
  • Week 4 – Nights – Sun, Wed-Thu

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patrol Hospital Grounds
    : Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.

  • Monitor Surveillance Systems
    : Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.

  • Access Control:
    Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.

  • Respond to Emergencies:
    Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.

  • Provide Customer Service:
    Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.

  • Conflict Resolution
    : De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.

  • Report Writing:
    Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.

  • Collaboration with Hospital Staff:
    Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.

  • Enforce Hospital Policies
    : Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards

Prerequisites:
  • Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
  • Valid First Aid & CPR – Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
  • Covid Vaccine two doses
  • Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step TB skin test
  • English (oral and written) fluency is a must
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
  • Diploma in Justice studies/police foundations is considered an asset.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check – to be completed upon hire
  • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
  • Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin’s UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
  • Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
