Job Description

What you’ll do

As AVP, Retail Loss Prevention in our organization, you play a critical role in overseeing the loss prevention activities for our corporate owned retail banners. Reporting to the VP of Corporate Security and Loss Prevention, you are responsible for managing a team of Territory Loss Prevention Managers, and their Regional Loss Prevention team(s).

  • Develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives to minimize loss and protect company people and assets across all corporate owned retail banners (this excludes CTR).
  • Increase resilience and minimize risk exposure within the supported retail landscape that support life safety, brand reputation and asset protection.
  • Lead and manage a team of Loss Prevention professionals across the country, providing guidance, coaching, support, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop, train and deliver education to supported business areas, leadership and store level employees to promote loss prevention programs.
  • Evaluate, evolve and promote best practices in support of holistic shrink plans and targets, employee/customer experiences and safety within supported environments.
  • In cooperation with Corporate Security teams, conduct investigations into internal and external theft, fraud, and other loss and risk-related incidents, ensuring proper documentation and resolution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement loss prevention projects and pilots associated to loss prevention and loss reduction initiatives. In cooperation with Corporate Security teams.
  • Plan, prioritize, and implement loss prevention systems (video, EAS, intrusion) aligned to capital plans and developed standards.
  • Help develop and maintain operating budgets.
  • Oversee vendor management performance aligned to Corporate Security standards.
  • Further the posture of data analytics and reporting and deliver result-oriented dashboards and inventory metrics on an established basis.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and industry partners and committees on industry projects, education and current trends with appropriate application of solutioning.
  • Conduct regular audits of stores and related eco-systems to assess compliance with loss prevention policies and procedures.

What you bring

  • Proven experience of 5+ years in a leadership role within a retail loss prevention or corporate security environment.
  • Bachelor's degree or post secondary education in Criminal Justice, Police Foundations and/or Investigations, Criminology Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working in a high-volume demanding retail environment.
  • Strong knowledge of loss prevention techniques, including investigations,
  • Familiarity with provincial and federal legislative regulations, such as Criminal Code of Canada, varying privacy laws and Canada Evidence Act.
  • This role will require at least 40% traveling across the country.

  • Ethical Conduct: High level of integrity with an understanding of ethical principles in the context of loss prevention investigations.
