The Heart & Crown Irish Pubs are looking for confident, professional, and people-focused Security Staff to join our team!

Our security team is a huge part of what makes a great night at the pub possible. You’re often the first face our guests see when they arrive and the last one they see when they leave, so we’re looking for people who can strike the right balance: friendly and approachable, but confident and professional when it matters.

This isn’t about standing at the door looking intimidating. Great security is about awareness, communication, good judgment, and knowing how to de-escalate a situation before it becomes one.

Most of the time, you’ll be working in the background — watching the room, reading the crowd, communicating with your team, and making sure both our guests and staff can enjoy a safe, welcoming environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Welcoming guests and checking identification
• Monitoring the venue and outdoor perimeter for safety concerns
• Assessing guests for signs of intoxication, aggression, or unsafe behaviour
• Keeping an eye on capacity and guest flow
• Communicating with fellow security staff and management throughout the night
• Stepping in early to help de-escalate difficult situations
• Professionally handling guests who may need to leave the premises
• Supporting staff when security assistance is required
• Documenting incidents and completing security reports when necessary
• Helping us maintain the fun, welcoming atmosphere Heart & Crown is known for

What We’re Looking For

You don’t need to be the loudest person in the room — but you do need to be someone people listen to.

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Observant, patient, confident, and level-headed
• A strong communicator and team player
• Comfortable dealing with difficult situations professionally
• Skilled in de-escalation, negotiation, and conflict resolution
• Physically capable of standing for extended periods and lifting 40+ lbs
• Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors throughout the year
• Available to work evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays as required
• A high school graduate or equivalent
• Holder of a valid Ontario Security Guard Licence
