Risk Control is seeking an experienced security consulting professional to add to our team. This position will be responsible for assisting and/or overseeing Risk Control projects related to security and crime prevention assessments, risk management consulting, regulatory compliance review, training development, corporate security solutions, professional frontline security security, and other similar security related projects.
Risk Control works with clients in a variety of sectors, including Alcohol and Cannabis Retailers, Law Firms, Mining, Energy, Oil & Gas, Post-Secondary Institutions, Architectural Firms, Property Developers, and not-for-profit organizations.

PRIMARY DUTIES (Fly-In-Fly-Out Projects):
- Access Control: Monitor and control access to the site, ensuring only authorized personnel and vehicles enter the premises.
- Patrols: Conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols to deter and detect any suspicious activities or safety hazards.
- Incident Response: Respond promptly to emergencies, alarms, and incidents, including medical, fire, and security breaches, and take appropriate action.
- Reporting: Document daily activities, incidents, and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, unauthorized individuals, or unusual occurrences.
- Safety Enforcement: Enforce site safety regulations, including PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) compliance, and ensure that all visitors and workers adhere to safety protocols.
- Visitor Management: Screen visitors, issue passes, and provide directions as necessary while ensuring compliance with security procedures.
- Surveillance: Monitor surveillance equipment and perform video surveillance to ensure a secure environment.
- Liaison: Communicate effectively with site management, contractors, and other stakeholders regarding security and safety concerns.
- Conflict Resolution: Handle disputes or conflicts that arise on-site, de-escalating situations when necessary.
ADDITIONAL CONSULTANT DUTIES:
- Provide strategic advice to clients and Risk Control senior leaders on the clients most critical security matters. Delivers reports and presentations on project status, and for clients on their security program issues, achievements, and status of key project initiatives.
- Acts as a strategic advisor for clients on various risk management projects.
- Identify threats, determining countermeasures and making recommendations to reduce vulnerability to clients sites/operations
- Conduct site and security program assessments, identifying deficiencies and providing recommendations for enhancement and industry best practices
- Perform general security inspections and regulatory compliance audits on clients facilities
- Recommend, design, and oversee the installation of electronic security systems (video surveillance, door access control systems, intrusion detection systems) for client facilities
- Work closely with clients to find proactive and innovative solutions to reduce the number and severity of incidents
- Provide Executive and Close Protection services to clients, as needed/necessary
- Development of security policies, procedures, and action plans for clients.
- Manage client projects including: project plan, scheduling, budgeting, project performance, and client satisfaction
- Development of project proposals and submission of RFP documents as applicable
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid Alberta Class 5, 4 (or higher) Driver's License.
- Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) Basic and Advanced (or higher) credential
- Certified Protection Professional (CPP) – American Society for Industrial Security (or equivalent experience)
- Certificate or Diploma in security management, law enforcement and/or criminology from a recognized post-secondary institute (or equivalent professional experience)
- Expert knowledge of the concepts, theories, and practices of security management, with emphasis on electronic security systems, loss prevention, security programming and guard workforces, and investigation techniques.
- A minimum of five years of multi-disciplined security experience including experience at the supervisory level with emphasis on video surveillance and card access systems
- Experience in conducting physical security surveys/audits as well as security planning and design, i.e. card access, alarm system design and specifications and a sound knowledge of digital video surveillance systems
- Experience conducting and authoring CPTED Assessments
- Experience with the Google business suite platform
- Expert understanding of Microsoft suite of software
- Candidates must be available during business hours (9am-5pm) to perform work and meet with clients on at least two business days per-week. Outside of this requirement, we offer a flexible work arrangement and allow work tasks to be completed after normal business hours and on weekends as applicable

- Physical Security Professional (PSP) ASIS Designation
- Professional Certified Investigator (PCI) ASIS Designation
- Association Protection Professional (APP) ASIS Designation
- Professional Security Consultant (PSC), International Associate of Professional Security Consultants Designation
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- Experience with Emergency Management
- Certifired Risk Manager (CRM) Designation
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Designation
- Experience and understanding of with Technical Surveillance Countermeasures (TSCM)
- Undergraduate or Masters level degree in a relevant discipline
- Valid Alberta Private Investigator’s, and/or Security License.
