Job description – Experienced Security Supervisor – Hotel & Casino

Are you ready for a new career adventure or are you wanting to get that step up into Law Enforcement? Looking to expand your Supervisory skills and knowledge? Our Security Team is growing and we’re seeking 2 Experienced Senior Level Security Supervisors to join our night shift team today!

The successful candidates will provide Senior Level Security Supervision and protection services to Calgary’s finest entertainment venue, responsible for our two four-star hotels, 60,000+ square foot casino, banquet centre, entertainment showroom, restaurants, pubs, and parking areas for the safety of patrons, staff, and protection of assets and gaming activities.

This position reports to the Manager, Security & Surveillance and the Assistant Manager, Security.

Responsibilities:

– Enforcement of the Trespass to Premises Act, Canadian Criminal Code, AGLC regulations and casino age / access provisions.

– Conducting patrols, and responding to emergencies and medical calls

– Performing customer assistance

– Liaising with the Calgary Police Service, the Calgary Fire Department, EMS, and other emergency providers.

This position provides senior-level security supervision including:

– Directing and supervising assigned teams.

– Assisting with interviews, training, and reviews for new Casino Security Officers

The Successful candidates will demonstrate the following qualifications:

  • Candidates must be located in the Calgary Alberta Area and be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident OR have an Open Work Permit to be considered.
  • Minimum 5+ years of recent Senior Level (Or Higher) Security Supervisor experience OR Peace Officer/ Law Enforcement Experience Required. Recent Casino experience preferred within Canada or an International Location.
  • Post-Secondary education in criminology or suitable combination of education and experience an asset
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years experience with front line Human Resources tasks, and be familiar with Alberta Employment Standards, Alberta Human Rights Regulations and other provisions.
  • Clear Calgary Police / RCMP Security Clearance – No Criminal Convictions or pending charges within the court system.
  • Defence Tactics Threat Pattern Recognition (formerly PPCT), Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training, and/or handcuffing training highly preferred
  • Candidates must be physically fit and able to perform all job duties as required on site. This includes but is not limited to being on your feet for your entire shift, walking, standing, running and climbing stairs when required.
  • Candidates will be required to safely intervene to prevent or resolve physical altercations, including the removal/detaining of individuals when required
  • Candidates must be able to lift/carry 50lbs.
  • AGLC Certificates including AML, Deal Us in Casino Staff Training (Phase 1 & 2), ProTect & ProServe Required
  • Must have a valid Standard First Aid/CPR-C & AED or higher level of medical training.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office & other windows-based programs is required.
  • Strong communication skills required as candidates must be able to verbally communicate in English and complete written reports.
  • Possess a high level of honesty and integrity, with adherence to high standards, methods, and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience with AGLC Regulations, Scheduling and Human Resource Management a bonus.

The first round of in-person Interviews will be scheduled to start the week of January 20th, 2025.

As our property is 24/7/365 operation, candidates must be available and willing to work a night shift rotation, which will include weekends, special events and holidays. Due to our shift times, candidates must have their own vehicle as public transit is not available for this area.

Education:

  • DCS / DEC (preferred)

Experience:

  • Security Supervisor: 5 years (required)
  • Security or Law Enforcement: 5 years (required)
  • Human resources management: 3 years (required)

Licence/Certification:

  • AGLC Certificates (AML, DealUsIn,ProTect,ProServe) (required)
  • First Aid Certification (Level C Minimum) (required)
