Summary

We are seeking a Senior Security Supervisor to join our team at Deerfoot Inn & Casino. This pivotal role involves overseeing the security operations within our hotel and casino environment, ensuring the safety of guests and staff while maintaining a secure and welcoming atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Manager of Security and Surveillance
  • Enforces age and access regulations within the casino
  • Provides guidance and oversight to their designated teams
  • Assists in the interviewing, training, and evaluation of new Casino Security Officers
  • Conducts patrols to ensure the safety of personnel and the protection of assets
  • Offers customer assistance – Responds to emergencies and medical situations
  • Enforces the Trespass to Premises Act and the Criminal Code
  • Collaborates with the Calgary Police Service, the Calgary Fire Department, EMS, and other emergency service providers
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Candidates must reside in the Calgary, Alberta area and be either a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or possess an open work permit to be eligible for consideration.
  • A minimum of 6+ years of recent experience as a Security Supervisor, Bylaw, or in Law Enforcement is required. Recent experience in a casino setting, either in Canada or internationally, is strongly preferred.
  • Post-secondary education in criminology or a suitable combination of education and experience is considered an asset.
  • A clear Calgary Police/RCMP security clearance is necessary, with no criminal convictions or pending charges in the court system.
  • Training in Defence Tactics Threat Pattern Recognition (formerly PPCT), Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, and/or handcuffing is highly preferred.
  • Candidates must be physically fit and capable of performing all job duties as required on-site. This includes, but is not limited to, standing for the entire shift, walking, running, carrying 50+lbs and climbing stairs as necessary.
  • Candidates will be expected to safely intervene to prevent or resolve physical altercations, which may include the removal or detaining of individuals when necessary.
  • AGLC certificates, including AML, Deal Us In Casino Staff Training (Phase 1 & 2), ProTect, and ProServe, are required.
  • A valid Standard First Aid/CPR-C & AED certification or a higher level of medical training is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and other Windows-based programs is required.
  • Strong communication skills are essential, as candidates must be able to communicate verbally in English and complete written reports.
  • Candidates must demonstrate a high level of honesty and integrity, adhering to high standards, methods, and procedures.
  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment is necessary.
  • Experience with AGLC regulations, scheduling, and human resource management is a bonus.

This role is designated for a Night Shift Supervisor, working from 1800 to 0600 hours, following a rotation schedule. Please note that the schedule may be adjusted based on the business or operational requirements of Deerfoot Inn & Casino. Given our shift timings, the candidate must possess a vehicle to reach the site, as public transportation is not dependable in this region.

  • DCS / DEC (required)

Experience:

  • Security Supervisor, Bylaw or Law Enforcement: 6 years (required)
  • Human resources: 2 years (required)
  • Training & development: 3 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Alberta Security Services Licencce (preferred)
  • Valid First Aid, CPR-C, AED or HIGHER (BLS/EMT/EMR) (required)
  • AGLC Certs (AML, Deal us in Phase 1 & 2, ProTect, ProServe) (required)
